About me
Hi! My name is Mahnoor Chaudhry, and though I currently live in Canada, I belong to Lahore, Pakistan, in all senses of the word. I have a constant need to make everyone feel proud of me, which feeds into my impulse to jump from one project to the next without seeing it through because the results were too slow, but hopefully, this one will be different.
When I was a child, my parents told me that whenever I finished a book, they'd buy me a new one, in order to encourage me to read. Soon, they had to take that policy back because I was running through books and their bank account as if it were candy. That simple encouragement created a bookworm who went on to pursue English Literature as her degree (I know I know, what even was I hoping to do with that degree?? Write, I guess).
Turns out a Master's in English Lit, however, is not the same and definitely not the route to take if reading and writing what you please is what you want. Giving birth to my daughter put that and a lot of other things into perspective. So, I dropped out, and now here I am, honed in full-time on my desire to write, write, and read (I still need my 9-5 for financial stability, but that's besides the point). Hopefully, by the time my daughter can make sense of the world, she will see that her mom stepped on the ladder of passion and achieved something purposeful, and so can she.
If you would like to encourage me on, a comment, like, share, coffee, newsletter sign up, or anything to show support, will go a long way.
About this website
This is a platform to consolidate all my writing, publish it to the world, and turn a hobby into a source of income. While it is still a work in progress, this website will be a home for all my craft. When the time is right, it might include ads, affiliate links, and tiered memberships, but for now, it is just a way to get my writing out there.
These are the four categories I have divided my writing into:
- Letters: These are fiction, oftentimes inspired by real events, in a format that is familiar and enjoyable. It is something I can experiment with and tell stories through without the pressure of making it perfect.
- Travel: These are recommendations, itineraries, and stories from places I have personally travelled to, to help anyone making a similar journey.
- Poetry: Simply, all my poems. Uncategorized, chaotic, just like my mind.
- Essays: These will be nonfiction articles on topics that I harbour strong opinions or feelings for, and that need to be said in their own distinct piece.
If you sign up for the newsletter, my promise is to send you one piece of writing (or one email) per week. It is not to spam you or to advertise, it is so that my content can reach you if it interests you. You are free to opt out at any time.
If you want to support my work monetarily, you can send me a tip through the coffee jar button on the bottom right. All these funds will be used to help me make a career out of my passion.
Thanks for making it to the end, and happy reading!
